The amount of people who can not afford to buy enough food for themselves or for their families, is higher than you'd think. That is why we have decided to make the association five loaves and two fish
Our goal is to provide a helping hand to the people who find it difficult to get food on the table.
Less Food Waste
Food waste is the food that could be eaten by humans, but is wasted.
In Denmark we throw more than 50 tons of eatable food from restaurants and similar establishments away every year.
Scientific reports have established that 3.3 million tons of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere are a result of producing too much food.
We help to reduce food waste in Denmark by receiving and distributing food that would otherwise have been thrown out.
We will bring free food to families, the homeless and others that in a shorter or longer period does not have the money to support themselves.
We are always looking for new partners. It often happens that supermarkets and restaurants have food left over at the end of the day, food that they are not going to use. There is nothing wrong with the food, but for various reasons they are forced to throw it out.
When one of our partners have food left over, they contacts us and than we go to them and pick up the food. It is then transported to one of our storage locations, where it remains until it can be given away.
When we have food that is ready to be given away, we post it on our facebook page. Then people can contact us either through Facebook or here on our website. We also go out to the homeless with food as it is not always possible for them to contact us.
Once we have found someone, who needs the food, we arrange a time and place where they can come and get it. If the recipient of the food does not have the opportunity to come and pick it up, we also offer to deliver.
